The highly scalable Reach Access Control System provides an access control solution for a wide range of organizations. With the ReachNet system management platform you have the flexibility to choose the degree to which you host, manage, and monitor your company's access control application.
Organizations with on-site security personnel can monitor and administer their Reach ACS entirely in-house, while organizations without on-site security personnel or IT staff can rely on their systems integrator to provide monitoring and managed access services.

Commercial Offices
A local property management company owns two commercial office buildings in Austin, Texas. Each building has a different access control system, and both are in need of being replaced. One building has been pre-wired with Ethernet cabling and the other has a Wireless LAN deployed throughout the facility. The Reach ACS network architecture allows both sites to be equipped with a new access control system without requiring additional network cabling. Installation of the Reach ACS is easy and inexpensive. There is no need to replace any of the peripheral door devices since each Reach IP Controller supports the industry standard Wiegand readers, electric strikes, and motion detectors already installed at each door. The property management company doesn't have an IT department to install software or maintain PCs, so they simply log into their secure ReachNet account over an internet connection using a standard web browser to administer their Reach ACS. At each site, the 24-hour security guards use ReachNet to monitor the Reach ACS, alongside their video and building control systems. By setting up ReachNet sub-accounts each building tenant can be given access to specific administrative functions so that they can manage their own internal access points while allowing the property management company exclusive control of other access points. Several tenants have also requested convenient, high-security biometric access control for office doors in their executive suites. The FingerNet fingerprint reader, designed exclusively for the Reach ACS, offers customers biometric access control at a price that is competitive with conventional card readers. Schools A school district in Topeka, Kansas needs an access control system for 6 buildings to control entry to general areas like the gym and auditorium, and high-security areas such as telecommunications closets and records rooms. The school's security director wants certain faculty members to have access to the gym and auditorium for after-hours events; the IT department wants to be notified anytime someone enters a door leading to the telecommunications closet; and the administration manager wants to be notified and have a record of anyone entering a door leading to the records rooms. Since all buildings are equipped with a data network, the Reach ACS provides a cost-effective solution. By installing an IP Controller at each door to be secured and connecting it to the existing network, the system is configured to record all events and send email notification alerts when access is granted to high-security areas. The security director no longer has to wait at school after hours to let people in - she simply enrolls faculty members into the system and assigns them access permissions and schedules at specific doors as needed. Using ReachNet, the district saves money by eliminating the typical capital expenditures for software and expensive computer hardware required to run an access control system. In addition they minimize the support burden for their IT staff. With the money saved by having the Reach ACS run on their existing network infrastructure, the district is able to secure additional doors while staying within their security budget. Multi-Site Retailers The owner of a retail chain with 12 stores throughout California needs an access control solution to secure his properties. Each store has 2 doors and 5 or 6 employees. He doesn't want employees spending time managing the security system, nor does he want to buy computers or software for each site. The Reach ACS provides a cost-effective solution which allows for a high-security access control system at each store, without the need for any on-site computer hardware or software. From his main office, home office, or vacation home in Europe, the business owner can monitor and manage employee access throughout his entire enterprise over the internet by logging into his Reach account using a web browser. Since employee turnover is high, tightly managing employee access is critical. Employees gain access to his stores using Reach's FingerNet biometric fingerprint readers, so there will never be any more lost or stolen keys. He no longer has to have the doors re-keyed when an employee quits. He can verify each morning that the manager, and nobody else, has opened the store by 9 a.m. If not, he gets a text message on his cell phone with the details. He is able to reduce costs while guaranteeing his own peace-of-mind since he can hold each employee personally accountable by tracking their access from anywhere at any time.
